Take a leisurely walk through the beautiful Colorado landscape accompanied by one of Flying Iron Ranch's alpacas. After meeting your alpaca and learning a little about his personality, you'll be paired up for a guided trek around the ranch. Along the way, learn about alpacas, their remarkable fleece, their personalities, and life on an alpaca ranch. There will be plenty of time for photographs, alpaca interaction, and enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery. Finish your visit with time to meet other members of the herd and browse handcrafted alpaca products in the Flying Iron Ranch store.

Take a leisurely guided walk through the Colorado landscape with one of Flying Iron Ranch's alpacas. After meeting your trekking companion and learning about his personality, you'll set out around the ranch to learn about alpacas, their fleece, and ranch life. There will be time for photos, alpaca interaction, and enjoying the mountain scenery.
The experience lasts approximately 60–75 minutes and includes walking. After the trek, you'll have time to meet other members of the herd and browse handcrafted alpaca products in the ranch store. Treks are by appointment only; please reserve in advance.
Flying Iron Ranch is located at 4019 County Road 1 in Montrose, Colorado. Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled trek so your group can check in and begin on time.
The 60–75 minute experience includes a guided walk on natural, sometimes uneven ranch ground. Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes and clothing suited to the day's weather. Depending on the season, you may also want to bring water, sunscreen, a hat, or an extra layer. Children must remain with a supervising adult throughout the visit.
Plans change, and we understand. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made at least 24 hours before the scheduled trek may be moved to another available date or refunded.
Reservations canceled within 24 hours of the trek and missed appointments are nonrefundable. Late arrivals may receive a shortened experience so the ranch can remain on schedule.
Treks may be adjusted, postponed, or canceled when weather or ranch conditions make the experience unsafe. If Flying Iron Ranch cancels your trek, we will contact you to arrange a new date or issue a refund.

Yes. Children can enjoy the guided walk and meeting the alpacas. They must remain under adult supervision and follow the guide's instructions around the animals.
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe walking shoes that can handle dirt and uneven ranch terrain. Check the forecast before arriving and dress in layers when appropriate.
Treks take place outdoors on a working ranch and may be affected by rain, snow, heat, wind, or other conditions. If conditions are unsafe, we will contact you about rescheduling or receiving a refund.
The trek includes walking on natural, sometimes uneven ranch terrain. Please contact us before booking to discuss mobility needs, stroller access, or other accommodations so we can help you plan your visit.
For the safety and comfort of the alpacas, please leave personal pets at home. If you plan to visit with a trained service animal, contact us before your trek so we can help make appropriate arrangements around the herd.
Personal photography is welcome, so bring your camera or phone. Please follow your guide’s directions and avoid flash or other activity that could disturb the animals.
Please contact the ranch as soon as possible. Late arrivals may receive a shortened trek, and guests arriving too late to join their scheduled experience may need to rebook.
